Research Subjects and Results

As computers get faster and more capable of handling large data, there is a growing need for physical simulation technology that can regularly handle large volumes of complex shape data. We are researching and developing ways to convert at high-speed, large-scale shape data to fine-precision voxel data in the preprocess step to physical simulation. We are also studying ways to automate this process to alleviate the extensive labor and cost that are currently being expended on cleaning configuration data in the process of designing industrial products.
A post-process problem is how to effectively take analyses results and visualize them. In our research, we are using state-of-the-art computer graphics technology to realize a photorealistic visualization using the global illumination model. We are also using the latest hardware technology GUP for real-time rendering.
Furthermore, we also research 3D user interface using augmented reality to intuitively handle volume data.
